MAKE YOUR MOVE readers, I promised you on page 51 that I’d post a link on my website to this commercial for Shock Top beer. Here it is:
(If you haven’t yet read MAKE YOUR MOVE, here’s the relevant passage from the book: “Thing is, the same opener [“Hi”] that’s such a turnoff for women can have a hypnotizing effect on men. Want a visual? Head over to my website, JonBirger.com to find the commercial “Firsts” for Anheuser-Busch’s Shock Top craft beer… [T]he commercial’s protagonist—a young woman attending a backyard house party—spots a cute guy who may or may not be there with a date. (He’s involved in a four-way conversation with another man and two women.) After making eye contact, the young woman walks purposefully across the backyard—the camera is trained on her feet—stops in front of the man, smiles, and then just says hi. In the commercial, this simple act of saying hi leads to whirlwind romance involving camping, carnivals, and exotic food. The commercial ends with the happy couple moving in together. If this weren’t a beer commercial, the tagline could well have been ‘the power of simply saying hi.'”
